In the same region at the time of the birth of Jesus, some shepherds were tending their flocks of sheep during the night. When an Angel of the Lord appeared before them, the shepherds were very afraid.
And the Angel said to them, “ Do not be afraid; For behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which shall be for all people. For today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
The Angel said the child would be wrapped in cloths, and be found laying in a manger. Other Angels then joined the first Angel and they all sang praises to God. Then they ascended back to Heaven. The shepherds went to Bethlehem and found Jesus, and told everyone what the Angels had said. The shepherds then left giving praise and glory to God. In that the shepherds believed the words of God from the Angel, they were able to find their way to Jesus.
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
Just as the shepherds left giving praise and glory to the Heavenly Father, so all believers should be filled with a joy that gives all the praise and glory to Jesus. Since the good news is that Jesus came and died for our sins, and by believing in Jesus as Savior and Lord we are saved. With the Holy Spirit to lead us, we should shout this good news with such a joy to the world, that all might wish to be saved. This was the intention of Jesus when he said;
“ Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation.”
